The Internet and Modern Technology

The Internet had its beginning during the Cold War. The Soviet Union launched the Sputnik satellite and it was off to the races between the two superpowers. It can be argued that, had it not been for this epic battle to have the upper hand in military affairs, we may not have the world wide web as we know it today.

This class has provided a unique look, not just at technology, but also the development of modern society around the use and implementation of innovation. This includes online degrees, web communications, social networking, computers, smartphones, and tablets. I can remember having a rotary dialed phone as a kid in elementary and high school. Now, it is difficult to imagine life without my smartphone. My how we have adapted our lives around technology!
